I was saved as a teenager in Savannah, GA. While in High School, I knew that the way I was living my life wasn't pleasing to God and, by His grace through faith, repented and submitted to Christ as Lord. It was at that point that my walk with God became the priority of my life and I have been serving Him ever since!

I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Amber Gifford, since 2005, and we have two wonderful boys, Zane and Finn. In terms of my education, I currently hold a B.A. from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO, and an M.A. from the Master's Univerisity in Santa Clarita, CA. I am also working towards a PhD from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. For my vocation, I work at the Master's University as a Professor of Biblical Counseling.

My vision for Faith Community Church is to see God continue to be honored as we seek to learn the truth, live the gospel, and love the family. For me this involves focusing on developing Life Groups that are biblical and are places where people can grow in significant Christ-like relationships.

Some of my hobbies include running as much as I can and working on my Jeep Wrangler.  My favorite book is On Delighting in God by John Howe, and my favorite Bible verse is 2 Corinthians 5:9. I am a former US Army Captain; I have always wanted to travel to Germany, and my favorite quote is "Think greatly about the greatness of God" by John Owen.

I was raised in a believing family and was introduced to the Lord at an early age. When I was 4 I became aware that I needed someone to save me from my sinfulness. I asked my mom how I could be saved from my sin and she shared the gospel with me. I prayed with all the understanding of my little four year old heart that God would forgive me and make me His. Everything since then has been one mercy after another. God has poured out his goodness and shown Himself to be faithful over and over, even when I have been faithless. The overwhelming kindness and richness of His love are more than I deserve or could have ever asked for.

I have been married to my favorite guy in the world, Matt Smith, since 1998, and we have three AMAZING kids! Maddy (2000) is a Music Major at Master's University. Hudson (2002) is taking most of his high school classes at LA Mission College, and Hayden (2005) attends SCVi Charter School.

I am a professional mom, and now have the joy of serving part time here at the church. I was married at 19, and was only able to complete a couple years of general ed and music courses at the Antelope Valley College and College of the Canyons before I became a mom and stayed home full time with my kids. I enjoy refinishing furniture when time permits!

As a the body of Christ, I would love to see us continue to grow in our love for each other and for the lost around us. Ultimately I want us to be a church that brings glory and honor to His name in ALL that we do!! My favorite Bible verse is Rom 5:8 - "but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
